Isn't it odd that we don't know what most of the universe is made up from. It used to be easy the great man himself Einstein thought that the universe was static. We used to think that the milky way was the whole story. Now we think that the universe is about 93 billion light years across. Too big to imagine. To put that into perspective the milky way is about 100,000 light years across.
Hubble observed something odd the universe is not static but it is expanding the so called red shift. In 1998 a supernova or exploding star was studied, light coming from this showed not only was the universe expanding but the expansion is accelerating. Some unknown energy was working against gravity the so called dark energy. Very odd !
Another observation has been made the galaxies are spinning too fast indicating some type of matter. We call it dark matter. What is it, who knows? Very odd !
95 percent of the universe is unknown. No one knows what dark energy and dark matter is. Will we know one day maybe, but one thing is for sure the universe is odd, even odder than deep fried mars bars.
